Al-Jaafari described the event as a best venue to get acquainted with the viewpoints of other representatives taking part in the event.

He added that the conference is effective in echoing the Iraqi people's call for unity across the world.

Al-Jaafari said Shi'ites in Iraq have been truly serving the Islamic community, adding several top Iraqi dignitaries are taking part in the event.

The Former Iraqi prime minister expressed hope that the conference could pave the way for Muslim unity and solidarity across the globe.

The 5th International Conference of Ahlul Bait World Assembly kicked off in Tehran with a lecture by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

The four-day event is attended by over 600 foreign and 400 Iranian guests including a number of Muslim scholars and political and scientific figures from around the world.
